Hi, I’m Nancy, the main photographer behind Coastal Kids Photography. Although my husband and my daughter also love photography.
I’m based in beautiful South Devon, between the coast and the moors, and I’m drawn to photographs that feel natural, creative and full of personality.
My style sits somewhere between portrait photography and storytelling. I love beautiful light and interesting locations, but more than anything, I want the person in front of my camera to come through in the photograph. I’m not looking for perfectly posed smiles or for every hair to be in exactly the right place. Sometimes the best images happen in the moments in between — the laugh you weren’t expecting, the wind catching a dress, muddy feet, a serious expression or that split second when someone forgets the camera is there.
Alongside my work capturing headshots and model card updates, I love creating editorial and conceptual shoots. This is where I get to play with ideas, styling and locations and turn a simple thought into a whole visual story. You’ll often find me dragging chairs onto Dartmoor, wandering along beaches, working with incredible young models or dreaming up the next slightly unusual idea!
My work has been published internationally, which has been incredibly exciting, but what matters most to me is creating photographs that actually feel like something.
I work with children, teens, young adults, brands and creatives, from relaxed portrait sessions and modelling updates to commercial content and full editorial concepts.
Whatever I’m photographing, my approach is pretty simple: keep it relaxed, make it creative and capture something that feels real.
Beautiful photographs are lovely. Photographs that tell a story are even better.
